  1. What is the Mystic Tan Booth?

The Mystic Tan booth is a private, self-contained unit that employs a revolutionary spray process to apply a uniform amount of tanning myst to the entire body in just seconds.

When the tanning session is complete, the tanner simply steps out of the booth, towels off any excess myst, dresses and exits. The result is a smooth, natural-looking tan.

  2. Is it safe?

All of the components in the Mystic Tan tanning solution have been used in food and/or cosmetics for several decades. If you have ever had any adverse effects utilizing self-tanning products or moisturizers you might experience similar effects with the Mystic Tan tanning solution.

  3. How is the tanning solution applied to the skin?

The Mystic Tan booth is a full-body, DHA tanning process that utilizes MagneTan technology, a revolutionary process that allows the booth to apply a uniform amount of tanning solution to all parts of the body.

  4. Will it turn me orange?

Not at all. Before Mystic Tan, most self-tanners were creams and lotions applied by hand. That meant inconsistent coverage. Too much lotion applied in one place left the skin looking orange. Not enough lotion left unattractive streaks. Our MagneTan technology ensures that a uniform micro-spray of Mystic Tan tanning myst covers the entire body in the exact amount required to produce a natural-looking tan.

  5. What should I wear in the tanning booth?

Most people wear nothing. Since the room is completely private, going for an all-over tan is completely up to you. However, if you do wear a bathing suit or other under garments, please be aware that whatever you wear may be stained. The bronzer we use for your initial color is water-soluble and should wash out, but the DHA applied may cause permanent stains on any clothing you may wear inside the booth.

  6. Will my skin be wet when I step out of the tanning booth?

The myst applied in the Mystic Tan tanning booth is very fine, much like the myst floating in the air on a foggy day. By the time you step out of the booth most of the myst will have dried but there may still be a few moist areas. You may see small droplets clinging to any body hair on your arms or legs. This remaining moisture can be removed quite easily by toweling dry. Don't worry about wiping off the solution with the towel. Toweling does not streak the tan and any solution that comes off on the towel was excess and will not affect your tan.

  7. How long after a tanning session before I can put my clothes back on?

Once you have towel dried there is little chance of the bronzer or DHA getting on your clothes. If you pursue any strenuous physical activity after your Mystic Tan tanning session, perspiration may cause some of the bronzer to transfer to your clothing. Since the bronzer is completely water-soluble it will wash out.

  8. How many times do I need to tan with the Mystic Tan tanning process to achieve the color I want?

You will be tan after one session, but it may take an additional session or two to achieve your desired color. Once you reach the color you desire you should be able to maintain it by tanning every four to five days.

  9. If I tan in the Mystic Tan tanning booth, can I also tan in tanning beds and in the sun?

Yes. There is nothing in the Mystic Tan tanning solution that would prevent you from tanning in tanning beds or the sun. In fact, a number of customers have found that tanning with UV rays and the Mystic Tan tanning solution actually gives them a better overall tan. Remember however, that a Mystic Tan does not give you any protection from UV rays.

  10. Will my Mystic Tan be an even tan, or will some parts of my body get darker than others?

The Mystic Tan tanning booth is designed to provide as even a tan as possible. However, tanners will be different heights and shapes, and may stand in different positions. It is possible that you will find some areas of your tan lighter than others. In most cases this difference disappears after several tanning sessions.

  11. I have fair skin and have never been able to tan. Will the Mystic Tan tanning booth give me a tan?

Yes. The Mystic Tan tanning booth was designed specifically for individuals who can't or don't want to tan conventionally.

  12. I usually break out in freckles when I try to tan. Will the Mystic Tan tanning solution make my freckles come out?

No. There is nothing in the Mystic Tan tanning solution that will cause more freckles to break out. In fact, in most cases, freckles and blemishes will become less pronounced because the lighter skin areas will darken and reduce the color differentiation between the blemishes and the rest of your skin.

  13. Will I get a better tan if I have two sessions in the same day?

Yes, tanning twice in the same day will give you a darker tan, but we do not recommend back-to-back sessions. Tanning back-to-back doesn't give the DHA a chance to set between tans and increases the chance that you tan may have an orange glow. Waiting 12 to 24 hours between tans will eliminate this potential problem.

  14. How long do I have to wait after a tanning session before I can shower?

We recommend that you wait four to six hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set. If you shower earlier, you may diminish the intensity of the tan. When you do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create your long term tan.

  15. Will it make me feel sticky like lotions do?

No. Once you leave the Mystic Tan tanning booth and dry off, your skin will feel soft and pliable because of the moisturizing components. It will not feel sticky.

  16. What happens if the Mystic Tan myst gets in my eyes?

Mystic Tan tanning myst has been thoroughly tested by a third-party lab and the results showed no eye or skin irritations. Mystic Tan tanning myst has been used in over three million tanning sessions with no adverse reactions documented.

  17. Do I need to cover my hair while tanning in the Mystic Tan tanning booth?

Many customers wear disposable shower caps (provided by the salon) to keep the solution from getting in their hair. Other customers tan without covering their hair. The Mystic Tan tanning myst does not penetrate the hair follicle.

  18. Has anyone had an allergic reaction to the chemicals used in the Mystic Tan tanning solution?

The components we use in our myst have been successfully used in cosmetics and food products for decades, and are proven safe for use on the skin. If you've had previous allergic reactions to self-tanning lotions or cosmetics, you amy want to do a "patch test" first. Put a small amount of Mystic Tan tanning myst on a small area of your skin to test for possible reactions.

  19. What happens if I inhale any of the Mystic Tan myst?

While no one should purposely inhale or ingest the Mystic Tan myst, it is known that DHA (the active tanning ingredient) is a non-hazardous compound and causes no adverse reaction in moderate quantities when applied topically or even ingested. DHA has been used as a diet supplement in sports nutrition and is non-carcinogenic. Testing has further shown that DHA is less toxic than aspirin, caffeine and even common table salt. Based on our research, the maximum amount of DHA that could accidentally be ingested or breathed during one minute Mystic Tan sunless tanning session would be .05 milligrams (equivalent to less than one grain of common table salt). Ingesting this minimal amount of DHA should pose no health risk to the consumer.

  20. Will the components of the Mystic Tan solution make my skin have an unpleasant smell?

Some customers have commented that they noticed a "starchy" smell on their skin after tanning, but it is usually not noticeable to others around them. This is simply the DHA reacting to proteins in your skin and it fades away fairly quickly.
